Frequently Asked Question's

How much does a new deck cost?

When it comes to "frequently asked questions" this is by far the most frequently asked! We wish we could give you a better answer, than the cliche, it depends on a lot of factors answer! But unfortunately, it depends on a lot of factors! How large of a deck are you looking to have installed? What type of decking material are you looking to use? What kind of deck design are you looking to have installed? We can't even begin to start giving you an answer to this question because there are so many variables and things to take into consideration. We can say that the industry average for the state of Georgia is about $10,000. We have built decks for significantly less, and as much as $60,000! It just depends! But what we can promise, is that we will provide you with a comprehensive estimate so you know exactly what you're getting yourself into before we even start the project!

What is the life span of a new deck?

This depends on the type of building materials that you use to construct your deck! We often find that projects that use untreated wood can last anywhere from 15-30 years! But, if you're interested in looking into an outdoor living area that uses treated wood or composite materials you can expect a life span of 50+ years! Often times, the composite decks come with a 20 year warranty or even a life-time warranty!

What is the least expensive decking material?

In our industry, especially following the pandemic, we've seen prices sky rocket and come back down, so this may very depending on what time of year you're reading this! But we've often found that pressure-treated pine materials are the least expensive option when it comes to decking materials!

What are the most common deck repair's to watch out for?

Having been in business for many years, it is safe to say that we've seen it all! The Georgia weather isn't always the greatest, and the hot summer sun isn't always the friendliest to our outdoor living spaces! If we had to choose the most common deck repair needs they would be as follows:

Rotted nails | Staining Needs | Resealing Needs | Broken Stairs | Railing repairs | Dry Rot | Termite damage | Broken deck boards

Do I need a permit to build a new deck?

The short answer is yes. It may very well depend on what municipality you live in, but 9 times out of 10 you will need a building permit in order to install a new deck. But no need to worry, the building permit process is extremely straight forward and we will help you out along the way! Once we've finalized the details of your next project, the application process takes roughly 10 days to fully complete. Larger projects are sometimes subject to longer review processes! But like we said, no need to worry we will help you out from start to finish!

How long does it take to install a new custom deck?

Like most of our answers, it just depends! It depends on the time of year, weather, soil, and overall complexity of the project! Often time's we see a standard deck from start to finish will take about 2-4 weeks to fully complete! But, one thing we can assure you and something we take great pride in, is that we will keep you up to date throughout the process! You will be updated on a weekly basis as to where our estimated completion date is as well as where we are at in the process!

What Is the best decking material option?

This depends on what your goals are for your next outdoor living space! If you're looking for a material that will stand the test of time, we would suggest using a composite material as it typically has the longest life span. If you're looking for the most popular decking material, we typically see that our clients and customers in the industry use pressure treated wood! If you're looking for a deck that requires the least amount of maintenance and issues, we would suggest using synthetic or composite materials! The best decking option varies on a customer by customer basis! If you aren't sure which one is right for you, then give us a call today and we would love to set up a free no-obligation consultation today!
